On the occasion of The Kensington and Chelsea Arts Week Festival I am presenting a series of new works on paper and ceramics @ Robert Frew’s gallery, in South Kensington.
‘Ceiling/Feeling’ is composed of twelve watercolours on paper and It is part of an going collection of skies, moods variations and landscapes.
“I wanted to depict a higher view of the inevitability of change and impermanence together with the unseen and unsaid mutual relation that exists between external conditions and our internal world of feelings and emotions.”
“Between winter and spring, I was feeling so impressed by the greys and colourful skies that I thought if I started drawing them, I could say I how it felt and the immensity of life itself and evolution.
“Blending abstraction with realism Cecchinato’s paintings are an offering to the passage of time filled with an ever-changing emotional intensity.”
On show also new ceramics from the ‘Museum Spirituality’ collection of unique, in-glazed, fine bone china pieces where a series of texts as words, and drawings have been super-imposed onto these vessels, asserting an altered space and reality. These artworks fuse sensorial experiences with world art, histor(y)ies and cultures.
“Serving plates and vessels are used as passage and conduits between the outer world and our inside. They are a place of exchange. In this case the exchange is between different cultures and faiths on common human occurrences. These plates and vessels are a sort of zero degree transition area where the participants are called to experience, read and interpret the gaps in space and time which characterise the negotiation of cultural values and histor(y)ies.”
