Sound, Water and Paint recordings on Paper

Lamp, 2017 – on going

Leamington Art Music & Performance Studio

This is an experiment with painting, water and sound waves, vibrations and feelings, atmospheres, recipes and papers. I have been painting on water placed above a speaker connected to an analogue synthesiser. When low frequencies are played, the sound waves make the water and paints move, creating some phenomenally disruptive, yet harmonic patterns. Different frequencies generate different patterns, impossible to forge or even invent by hand.

Each unique and immanent encounter across realms of creation -when the visibile water & paint waves of the drawing collide with the invisible and distinctive sound waves emanating through the speaker-  is recorded on various artist papers, previously bathed in an aluminium solution. The diameter of each painted round recording is 33 cm.

This is a collaboration with music composer Timothy Ellis.
