“Reveries, Soul’s Sounds, Memories, Action” water, acrylics, natural pigments, gold, silver, copper leaves on rice paper. Ongoing series 2016/17
Over the course of last year I’ve been painting with acrylics and pigments on a size of water and carrageenan moss and aluminium and ox gall and metal leaves and I learned about recipes and Alchemy and the influence of space and time in creation: how the same colour one day would contract and the following day when in contact with the same water size it would expand for then two days later back to contraction. Some other time, the same paint recipe would fix/stick beautifully onto the rice paper and some other times the exact same colours’ concoction would wash away, not register/record to the resulting faded paper. I have learned that when you paint on water you need to surrender and transcend the figurative, let go of forms and the symbolic world and find a connection instead with feelings and colours, waves and resonances, cacophonies and tunings and alignment of materials and their vibration within different environments and temperatures.
Each mandala panting is an Ode to the invisible, a celebration of waves and feelings. Each painting is a prayer for the every day’s little traumas, a pulsing point of elevation in our continuous tension towards the weaving of the Infinite and optimality. Each page is a calibration of faith in the ultimate and innate Coherence of life and Creation at large.
